Description:

The Glossy-mantled Manucode is the largest of the manucodes found on mainland of New Guinea. It is a lowland species found in forest edge and savanna habitats. The Manucodes are some of the few 'less spectacular designed' Birds of Paradise. They all have starling-like shiny metallic colours and they lack a spectacular shape or prolonged feathers as well. They are also one of the few birds of paradise without sexual dimorfism.
This Manucode often used the display perch of a Twelve-wired Bird of Paradise a short while after the bird of paradise had left. From this perch the Manucode was calling his typical high pitched, long and drawn out mournfull OOoooooo whistle.
