Bronze Ground-Dove -
Beckari's Patrijsduif
-
Gallicolumba beccarii

Image ID:
1384
Date:
11/06/2011
Location:
Mokwam,
Arfaks,
West Papua,
Indonesia
Description:

Like most of the Ground-Dove species in Papua, the Bronze Groud-Dove is a difficult to observe species. It is a shy bird, which forages on the ground and in the dense undergrowth. As I spent several days in a hide at the dance ground of a Magnificent Bird of Paradise, I was lucky to be able to take pictures at close range from this inconspicuous species.
