Beech forest seen through a cave -
Beukenbos vanuit een grot
-
Fagus sylvatica

Image ID:

Date:
19/07/2012
Location:
Rakov Skocjan,
Slovenia
Description:

At Rakov Skocjan there are several natural bridges, which were carved out by a river. At the same spot the river searched its way downwards through porous soil in this karst region, and thus creating a cave in the soil as well as a natural bridge. This picture shows a view from inside the cave, by looking up towards the forest above.
